EMED 902e - Emergency Medical Services(e)Course Description: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a fourth-year elective designed to provide medical students with hands-on experience in the medical oversight of emergency medical systems and the integration of EMS with hospital-based emergency care. During this rotation, students will engage with professionals who manage paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and other healthcare providers in both field and hospital settings. Students will gain insight into the critical decision-making processes involved in EMS operations, including the management of systems, personnel, and research. Additionally, students will be exposed to the logistical, organizational, and regulatory aspects of EMS systems, as well as the challenges and protocols for inter-hospital transfers, disaster response, and mass casualty incidents.
