FMED 903e - Geriatric Medicine(e)Course Description: The Geriatric Medicine elective provides medical students with specialized training in the unique healthcare needs of older adults. This rotation emphasizes the principles of aging, comprehensive geriatric assessments, and the management of chronic diseases common in the elderly population. Students will engage with patients in various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, and long-term care facilities. Through direct patient interactions, case discussions, and interdisciplinary collaboration, students will develop the skills necessary to provide compassionate, patient-centered care to older adults, while addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
