HSS 704.1 - Systems-based PracticeCourse Description: Systems-Based Practice will examine contemporary health care delivery challenges from a sociotechnical systems perspective, with particular attention to (healthcare) culture, quality, and safety. Students will be introduced to the domains of human factors, industrial engineering, and clinical informatics as a new way of analyzing systems to effectuate positive change. Methods and tools for assessing quality and value will be discussed as well as processes for improvement. Additionally, this course explores the impact of social context and societal systems on the health of individuals and populations through the lens of the biopsychosocial model of health and the new science of stress biology.
